A holistic forest carbon offsetting alternative

A new report assesses whether the global market should move on from forest carbon offsetting as a tool to curb climate change and further sustainability. It says that the carbon offset market is not meeting its original objective. As an alternative a ‘growing number or stakeholders are backing’ a move to ‘voluntary contributions’ to the collective effort for the climate. These are designed to highlight the combined carbon and biodiversity benefits of projects undertaken by market actors.
